It's the Holiday season. I hope you all have something special planned. I am gathering my Christmas reads and the jigsaw puzzles I plan to take to my sister and brother-in-law in Texas. This year I am bringing Apricot Bars.

Preheat oven to325 degrees
8x10 pan
Baking time:1 hour
Ingredients
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
 2 cups flour
1 cup broken nuts (I use walnuts Or. If you are allergic to nuts, omit them.)
1 jar apricot jam (I use 6-8 ounces. You can use more.)
 Instructions
Cream egg yolks, butter, and sugar.
Add Flour and nuts
Fork ingredients together till you have a crumbly dough,
Put half of it in the button of the 8x10 pan
Spread a layer of apricot jam over this layer.
Crumble the rest of the dough over the jam.
Bake for thirty minutes on the oven's middle shelf.
Then place the pan on the top shelf and bake for another thirty minutes.
If you want to, you can dust the cookie with powdered sugar.
Cool and slice into squares.

Other Book News

I signed a contract with Soul Mate Publishing for Irish Magic. It will come out sometime in 2019.
The Spanish Edition of  Mom, is There a Santa Claus? , ¿Mamรก,
existe Santa Claus? is now available in paperback from Barnes and Noble or Amazon.
I think K.C. Snider's illustrations are perfect in any language.
Mom, is There a Santa Claus? is also available for Kindle for 5.00
Maybe This Time continues to collect reviews. Here's one:
Customer Review
5.0 out of 5 stars Romance, time travel, women of substance...

Maybe This Time
Two things about this book that are delicious: the idea of having a second chance with the love of your life AND the fact that the main character gets that chance in middle age.
If you like romance stories but wish they weren’t all about young adults or 30-somethings, this is the book for you. Ms. James does an excellent job of presenting the scrumptious possibility that maybe, just maybe we don’t have to live with the mistakes we made the first time around.
Read it for the time travel, the spot-on era descriptions that take you back to a simpler age, and most of all for the romance.
A page-turner for all those—and more reasons.
The Audio Book narrated by the brilliant Stephanie Bentley has also gotten very positive reviews. You can download it for free with an Audible trial. Listen to a sample. https://smile.amazon.com/Maybe-This-Time-Second-Romance/dp/B079SHZWQ8/ref=tmm_aud_swatch_0?_
The cover is one of my errors. It's not the illustrator's fault. I was trying to brand it to Time and Forever. But I think the story might have been better served with a different cover. I have no idea how to make that happen.
Acting News
I continue to get acting roles which makes me very happy. This week I filmed a role on the ABC comedy, Splitting Up Together. Next year I am in two new movies.
Two weeks ago I was on the TBS series The Guest Book playing Michael Rappaport's mom. Followed by a quick one-liner on CBS's wonderful 12-step comedy series, Mom. I love both these shows. I Just wish they'd shown the tattoos they put on my character more clearly
I wish you the happiest of holidays. I am for holding down the stress quotient and upping the thankfulness part. Enter the contest. Find a good book.

Working on the CBS Comedy Mom . #giveaway totally unrelated book.

Posted by Susan B James on 3:00:00 AM with No comments

Backstage at a TV show and a totally unrelated book giveaway. eBook of The Once and Future King (The book that spawned the musical Camelot and the Disney movie, the Sword and the Stone.) It was on sale last week and I bought a gift copy.

Last week I was on Mom. My few seconds of glory are on a video at the end of this post.
Mom, a CBS hit comedy,  is a multi-camera show normally filmed in front of a live audience at Warner Brothers Studio, stage 20. Multi-camera shows hire you for the week. (Oh Joy) even though you have one line.
I thought you might enjoy some backstage pictures. I love the acting and the writing on this show. It was a privilege to watch the work. My dream has always been to be a regular on a sitcom. I want to be second banana with a few really funny lines. They have some fabulous second bananas on this show.

Day One: I arrive for the read-through of the script. I have my own assigned parking spot! A full breakfast is available pre-read-through, including an omelet station.

Next comes the blocking rehearsal, followed by lunch and a run-through for producers and network executives. The writers revise the script, reworking jokes they feel didn't get the response they wanted. They do this all week. Every day there is a new script with the rewrites added.
After rehearsal, I go for a costume fitting.
Day two: More blocking and another rehearsal for the network. More wonderful food.
I wasn't required for Days three and four.
Day five: I arrived at 1:00 PM for makeup. Kentaro Yano, who did the tattoos for Black Panther gave me a series of wonderful tattoos. Allison Janney came in to get the spray tattoo for her back. So funny. (No pictures because that's part of the silence agreement which is part of my contract.)
We broke for Lunch

After lunch, Kentaro finished up the tattoos. And they shoot my scene.
The extras had real tattoos. But I thought mine were so cool.
Here is the final result. My Ten Seconds of Glory on Mom

You can't see all the wonderful work Kentaro did. That makes me sad. The work itself. Getting to be part of this cast made me very happy. What made you happy last week?

JoAnn Ross and Snowfall on Lighthouse Lane #giveaway/

Posted by Susan B James on 3:00:00 AM with No comments
Snowfall On Lighthouse Land comes out today! And I have a paperback to give away. Small Town Christmas read, anyone? Second Chance Romance? The Gorgeous Olympic Penninsula? And one great ghost? If you love any of these things, this is a book for you.

Blurb: Growing up on the wrong side of the tracks, Jolene Harper is forever indebted to the mother who encouraged her to fly—all the way to sunny LA and a world away from Honeymoon Harbor. Although Jolene vowed never to look back, returning home isn’t even a question when her mom faces a cancer scare. Which means running into Aiden Mannion all over town, the first boy she ever loved—and lost—and whom she can barely look in the eye.
Aiden’s black-sheep reputation may have diminished when he joined the marines, but everything he’s endured since has left him haunted. Back in Honeymoon Harbor to heal, he’s talked into the interim role of police chief, and the irony isn’t lost on the locals, least of all Aiden. But seeing Jolene after all these years is the unexpected breath of fresh air he’s been missing. He’s never forgotten her through all his tours, but he’s not sure anymore that he’s the man she deserves.
Despite the secret they left between them all those years ago, snow is starting to fall on their picturesque little town, making anything seem possible…maybe even a second chance at first love

When Little Bird Publicity asked me if I would like to feature JoAnn Ross on my blog, I had never heard of her. So I looked her up. Her website immediately endeared her to me.
Meet JoAnn Ross.
When New York Times bestselling author JoAnn Ross was seven-years-old, she had no doubt whatsoever that she’d grow up to play center field for the New York Yankees. Writing would be her backup occupation, something she planned to do after retiring from baseball. Those were, in her mind, her only options. While waiting for the Yankees management to call, she wrote her first novella — a tragic romance about two star-crossed mallard ducks — for a second grade writing assignment.
The paper earned a gold star. And JoAnn kept writing.
She’s now written over one hundred novels and has been published in twenty-six countries. Two of her titles have been excerpted in Cosmopolitan magazine and her books have also been published by the DoubledayRhapsodyLiterary Guild, and Mystery Guild book clubs. A member of the Romance Writers of America’s Honor Roll of best-selling authors, she’s won several awards, including RT Reviews’ Career Achievement Awards in both category romance and contemporary single title. In addition, she received RWA’s national service award and was named RWA Pro-Mentor of the Year.
Although the Yankees have yet to call her to New York to platoon center field, JoAnn figures making one out of two life goals isn’t bad.
Currently writing her Honeymoon Harbor series for HQN, JoAnn lives with her high school sweetheart, whom she married twice, in her beloved Pacific Northwest.

Honeymoon Harbor, set in a small harbor town on Washington State's Olympic Peninsula,  is about love, life, and family.
I'm going to link you to the series through JoAnn's Website because it's available in so many formats.
If you already love Joann or would like to discover Joann in a Christmassy way. Enter Below. Happy heading.
