Little Bird Publicity asked me if I would like to feature The Girl Most Likely by Max Allen Collins on my blog. The description sounded interesting so I said, yes. They sent me two copies, one to use as a giveaway. So, my friends, if you like your murder mysteries, Noir, here's a chance to win a paperback copy.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A HIGH SCHOOL REUNION
BECOMES A MURDER INVESTIGATION,
TURNING FRIENDS AND EXES INTO SUSPECTS
Twenty-eight-year-old Krista Larson has stayed close to home, making her mark as the youngest female police chief in the country. The daughter of a respected, recently retired homicide detective, she’s well known in her community, and the town itself—scenic tourist destination Galena, Illinois, now in its wintry off-season—is relatively crime-free and a place where murder is practically unheard of.
But Krista is about to face her toughest case yet when things go very wrong at her high school reunion. Voted “Girl Most Likely to Succeed,” Astrid Lund has made good on her promise and become a rising TV news anchor and investigative reporter—but at the reunion, Astrid captures the attention of admirers, old flames, and double-crossed friends. Skeletons lurk in the closet, the good cheer turns sinister, and suddenly not one, not two, but three murders must be investigated.

My opinion: The murders plot is well done and I like the characters. There are quite a few descriptions of the clothing everyone is wearing which, to me, felt unnecessary and slowed the forward momentum. But the mystery itself is very good. And the description of the murders is shudderful. Gave me a nightmare.
